Constitution
Article
1 – Name
This organization shall be known as the College of Lake County Federation
of Teachers (CLCFT) Political Action Committee (PAC)
Article 2 - Purpose
To preserve proactively the principles upon which the College was founded—indeed,
upon which the entire community college movement was founded—the CLCFT-PAC
is charged with the following mandates:
1. To promote public and governmental support for higher
education.
2. To encourage the participation of the union’s members in governmental
and political activities.
3. To improve union members’ understanding of policies and legislation
that
affects higher education.
4. To monitor the expenditures of taxpayer monies.
5. To establish a continuing political campaign fund.
6. To engage in lawful activities suitable for achieving these ends.
Article
3 – Membership
The membership of this committee shall consist of members of local union (2394),
who have volunteered and/or been appointed to serve by the president of the
union.
Article 4 – Officers
The Officers of this committee shall be a chairperson and a treasurer appointed
by the president of the union.
Article 5 - Authority of Committee
This committee shall have the authority to carry out activities related and
limited to the achievement of its purpose; and specifically
• Shall make recommendations to the executive council with regard
to political endorsements.
• Shall make recommendations to the appropriate body on its own authority
with regard to the disbursement of funds for political activities subject
to applicable laws and regulations.
• The proceedings of this committee shall be governed by Robert’s
Rules of Order, Revised.
Article
6 – Amendments
Amendments to this constitution shall be made by majority vote of the executive
council.
